Ferris Bueller's Day Off = 9 out of 10!

Short Synopsis:

Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick), a senior in high school, would like to have one day just for fun. He doesn't want to spend it alone so he grabs his girlfriend Sloane Peterson (Mia Sara) and his best friend Cameron Frye (Alan Ruck) to join in on the fun. In his way of fun is his jealous sister, his overprotective parents and his devious Dean Rooney. One thing is for sure, this day off should be interesting.

The Good:

This movie is an instant cult classic. This is comedy and drama in it's prime. Every person who's been in high school wished they could pull off this kind of plan for one day of fun.
  • Matthew Broderick's performance was great. His character was a smart and resourceful young person. He had adoration of everyone at his school. This really pissed off his sister and Dean Rooney very much. The scene with the recording was priceless and showed a lot of ingenuity. He managed to cover a lot of his tracks and outsmarted many of the adults during the different obstacles.
  • There are many memorable scenes in this movie. So many that we will only give a small bullet list of some great scenes.
    • Chez Quis- Abe Froman, the Sausage King of Chicago.
    • Wrigley Field- "Hey batter batter, swing..batter."
    •  The parade- Twist and shout!
    • Almost every scene with Dean Rooney.
  • The supporting cast in this movie played very pivotal roles. Alan Ruck and Mia Sara made everything work out smoothly for Broderick's character. They gave important assists during the right moments.
  • Charlie Sheen makes a surprise appearance in this movie as The drug addict in the police station. It was refreshing seeing the camera pan to his face and you can't help but smile.

The Bad:

The parents of Ferris Bueller seem very gullible. Who would believe their kid when they're pulling a routine like Ferris? No one, well at least not any parents in NYC, would fall for his simple trick. They would make you go to school even if you're coughing up a lung.
Three teenagers can just have an adventure around the town without getting caught by the school truancy task force or some cops. (We are aware that Ferris is caught by Dean Rooney during the last few minutes of the movie.) Guess the town believes in having high school students painting the town red on a sunny day.
Dean Rooney has enough time to take a trip to Ferris' house during work hours. What happened to the rest of students under his care? It would seem that finding Ferris is more important than the rest of the student body and their needs.

The Hypothetical:

It would be a different movie if Ferris stayed at school and took the test. A school day with Ferris Bueller could be interesting. We're thinking it's a cross between The Breakfast Club and Saved By the Bell. Come to think about it...
Just picture this movie with Mark-Paul Gosselaar as Ferris Bueller, Dustin Diamond as Cameron Fyre, and Tiffany Thiessen as Sloane Peterson. That sounds a lot like Saved by the Bell. Hmm... interesting, maybe just a coincidence, ha.
